Steps overview

A campaign's sequence is a list of email steps that each contact receives in order. Step 1 goes out when the contact joins the campaign, or after a wait you set. Each later step waits a number of days and hours after the previous one.

Creating steps

Each step has a subject and an HTML body, and LeadTrain generates the plain-text version from the HTML. The editor has bold, italic, links, and bulleted and numbered lists. Steps keep their order: you cannot drag them, and when you delete a step the ones after it move up.

Personalization variables

Variables are written in double curly braces and replaced with real values when the email is sent. The contact fields are first_name, last_name, full_name, company, title, email and country. The sender fields are sender_first_name, sender_name, sender_title, sender_email and sender_company. There is also unsubscribe_link. You can insert variables from the editor toolbar. A variable with no value for a contact is left blank.

Using templates

Use template replaces the step's subject and body with the template's in one go, and a message offers Undo. You can then edit the step as usual; the template itself stays as it was.

A/B testing

Add as many versions of a step as you like, each with its own subject and body. Every new version gets the same share of contacts as the original; the cabinet has no setting for weights. Each contact keeps the version they got.

Version statistics

Each version shows emails sent, open rate, reply rate and bounce rate. LeadTrain names a leader only once every version of the step has 1,000 sends. It does not run a significance test.

Results by step and mailbox

The campaign's Results tab shows Rates by step, with each version of a step listed, and By mailbox, with the rates for each sending mailbox.
